Special Project – Trench Experience at Chalke Valley

The aim of this project is to provide a backdrop to WW1 Re-enactors and Living History groups.  The trench infrastructure will be provided in a condition which will enable these groups to embellish with their artefacts and equipment.  With regular use, the trench will take on that authentic “lived in” feel.  The extremities of the trench system would benefit from “shell hole” landscaping to authentically explain the abrupt ending.  Where possible, trenches will end around a dogleg to allow for signage and obstacles to prevent access to the visible trench end.
